Keeping You Safe in the Post Covid-19 Era
When it comes to travelling again, New Zealand is the perfect post-Covid travel destination. We’ve got wilderness and space, quiet hiking trails and the freedom to go at your own pace as you step out and explore the world again.
Preparations are well underway here to welcome visitors back to New Zealand. Our priority is getting the appropriate safety measures in place as we navigate our way to operating our trips in this new era.
So, what will your trip be like?
1. A journey on the paths less travelled
If you travel on your own, it’s human nature to follow the crowds to the hotspots and busier areas, simply because they are the most well-known places. A New Zealand Trails trip is focused on the outdoors and we’ll be discovering stunning off-the-beaten-track spots where we’ll almost certainly be on our own in the heart of nature.
2. Your small group will stick together throughout
You’ll meet your fellow travellers at the start of your trip along with your local guides, and travel with them as a bubble throughout your trip. You’ll travel, walk, eat and take part in activities along the way with your private group. And of course, there’s plenty of down time to enjoy on your own as well. But mainly, this means there is not a lot of constant mixing in with other people, crowds or busy places as you travel around.
3. Your transport and equipment will be regularly cleaned and well-maintained
Throughout your trip you’ll travel in the same comfortable vehicle, kitted out with a consistent supply of hand sanitiser, surface disinfectant spray, disinfectant wipes, tissues as well as somewhere to dispose of used wipes and any other litter.
4. You'll stay in privately-run accommodation and eat in small restaurants
We have a close relationship with the accommodation and restaurant owners we use on our trips. They are all adhering to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health on maintaining a safe and protected environment and will continue to follow the guidelines as we operate our trips. Most of the accommodation and places we eat are small, not attracting great crowds of tourists or visitors. Our guides are also required to hold a Food Safety Certificate and be fully trained in safe food preparation. You can expect to eat well on your trip – the food is always a treat in itself! And as always, we do our best to cater for any dietary requirements.
5. A remarkable support team
The guides and office team at New Zealand Trails are outdoors professionals, with first-aid qualifications and many years of experience running trips in New Zealand. We run an industry-leading guide training trip prior to each season for all staff and have added in extra training on maintaining a Covid-safe environment.
Behind the scenes, an experienced team supports your trip 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The guides regularly check in with their support team and as we are all based right here in New Zealand, we can offer the fastest help with the most local knowledge. With us, you are in the best of hands!
