Work with us
Are you looking for the job of a lifetime?
New Zealand Trails is a Kiwi-owned adventure travel company that runs trips all over New Zealand, with our team in Arrowtown handling the details. We love what we do and have been doing it now for over 20 years.
If you were to dream up your perfect day at work, would it be one where you wake up and pop on whatever outfit takes your fancy - activewear, leopard print pants, a blazer? We don’t mind! You jump on your bike or in your car and, avoiding the headache of Queenstown traffic, you head to leafy Arrowtown. Arriving at a sunny, warm office, you’re greeted by smiles from your team and cuddles from excited doggies. You fire up the coffee machine to make a Wolf coffee and then head to your stand-up desk where you open your laptop knowing that you’ve got a bunch of tasks lined up to smash out and some interesting projects to collaborate on. Throughout the day, you work efficiently on things that actually matter. You make decisions, and you know your boss has your back. Problems sometimes come up but you focus on the solutions and work as a team to move forward. 4.30pm rolls around and you close your laptop. You get changed into your gear ready for a quick Sawpit Loop, your yoga class or night ski and you leave for the day (on time!) feeling like you’ve achieved a lot and knowing that there isn’t any stress to follow you home.
How does that sound?
The people on our team all have different personalities, strengths, experience and areas of expertise. What we all have in common though is that:
- We are kind, honest and positive.
- We are really switched on, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
- We are critical thinkers, relationship builders and excellent communicators.
- We are doers - we know how to execute, and we get things done!
- We think about the big picture while also having our eye on the details.
- We focus on solutions not problems.
- We execute to a plan but we’re also thoughtfully reactive.
- We love to learn, grow and get better at what we do.
- We are results-driven – we want to succeed as individuals and as a company.
- We are passionate about New Zealand and about showing our guests the trip of their lifetime.
- We really want to be here!
Sales & Marketing – Listed 17 October
We are heading into our biggest summer ever and as our company grows, we want to add a couple more people to our sales and marketing team. These are permanent, full-time roles working Monday to Friday in our Arrowtown office. We have a true focus on work/life balance and our standard work week is 36 hours.
We like to hear about people’s skill sets and then match them to a job so if you feel like you tick the boxes below, let’s chat!
Sales
We don’t do ‘sales’ in the traditional sense of the word. What we do is all about understanding the human condition, building great relationships, providing exceptional service, and getting to know our guests as individuals then matching them to the right trip. You don’t need sales experience to join our sales team, if you’re keen to learn then we’ll give you full training in the art of sales.
Our perfect salespeople would:
- Be critical thinkers and persuasive communicators.
- Be interested in the human condition.
- Have the ‘gift of the gab’ and/or have mastered the power of persuasive writing.
- Have a competitive nature and an eye for opportunities.
- Have exceptional spelling and grammar.
- Be able to think on their feet.
- Bonus if you hold a degree in psychology or a similar human behaviour field.
- Be genuinely curious and interested in getting to know people and what makes them tick.
- Love building authentic rapport and charming our potential guests from around the world.
- Delight in all things New Zealand, and what it means to be a Kiwi.
Marketing
We are looking for a talented marketing person with big things in mind for the future. This role would suit someone who thrives in a varied generalist marketing role. You'll be happy to put your hand to anything from analysing data and updating our website to writing social posts and getting involved with strategy and planning sessions.
Our perfect marketing person would:
- Have an analytical mind and a focus on data-driven marketing.
- Be great at project management but also very happy to execute – no job is too big or too small.
- Be an excellent listener and a natural leader.
- Have the ability to manage external contractors.
- Be a critical thinker and persuasive communicator.
- Be interested in the human condition.
- Have mastered the power of persuasive writing, have exceptional spelling and grammar, and be able to write engaging content.
- Have an eye for opportunities.
- Bonus if you hold a degree in psychology or a similar human behaviour field
How to apply...
To apply to join our sales and marketing team, email amanda@newzealandtrails.com with your CV and cover letter that outlines your strengths and what type of role you’re interested in (sales, marketing, both?). We like to invest in our people, and we want them to stick around so you must have permanent working rights (citizen, resident or similar) to apply for these roles. If this ad is still up, we are still accepting applications!
